What this is

Everything on Create a dish, plus the part that makes a dish genuinely orderable: modifier groups.

The basics

Name, price, Describe the dish..., Category (Appetizer · Main · Side · Dessert · Drink · Special), ingredients, Allergens (comma-separated), dietary tags, and Available on menu / Hidden from menu.

Modifier groups

This is where a menu item becomes configurable — the "Choose Taco Style — Required - Choose 1" blocks diners see on Dish detail.

Add modifier group creates one, e.g. Toppings, with:

Control What it sets
Min select Decrease / Increase. 0 makes the group Optional; 1+ makes it Required.
Max select Decrease / Increase. 1 is a single choice; more allows multi-select.
Removable Whether a diner can take the item out.
Price add-on ($) Per option surcharge.

The Required / Optional labels diners see are derived from min-select — you set the numbers, and the diner-facing wording follows.

Delete modifier group removes one. Cancel adding group backs out. Failure: "Could not add modifier group."

Getting this right

Modifiers are the difference between a listing and an order. A real menu item can carry ten or more groups — the taco example in Dish detail has eleven, from Choose Taco Style through Sauce Preference. Every Required group is a question the diner must answer before the dish can reach the cart, so mark only genuine choices as required.
