Browsing as a guest

How you get here: "Just browsing? Continue as guest" on the login or sign-up screen.

What guest mode is

A real, anonymous session. You get the app — the map, the dish feed, restaurant profiles, dish details — without handing over an email. What you don't get is anything that needs an identity: ordering, booking, saving, capturing, or AI.

What you can and can't do

You can You can't
Browse the map and nearby places Place an order
Scroll the Discover dish feed Book a table
Open dish and restaurant pages Save places
Filter by cuisine and local spots Capture and save a Dish Card
Search dishes Leave a review
Chat with Plaum AI
Have a profile or taste history

The Drinks toggle is also hidden for guests — drinks are a profile opt-in, and the backend never serves them to an anonymous session.

When you need an account

Tapping something that needs an account slides up a sheet titled Create your free account. The line beneath it names exactly what you were trying to do, so you always know what signing up unlocks:

What you tapped What the sheet says
Order You'll need an account to order food.
Reserve a table You'll need an account to book a table.
Save a place You'll need an account to save places.
The + capture button You'll need an account to capture and share dishes.
Leave a review You'll need an account to leave reviews.
Plaum AI Sign up to chat with Plaum AI — dish picks, food questions, and ordering help, tailored to you.
Anything else You'll need an account to do that.

Three buttons: Sign up free, Log in, and Keep browsing — the last one closes the sheet and leaves you exactly where you were.

The Orders and Profile tabs

Both tabs stay visible for guests rather than being hidden, and each explains what it will hold once you have an account:

  • Orders"Your orders live here"Sign up to place orders and track them live.
  • Profile"Make Plaum yours"Sign up to build your taste profile and save your favorites.

The feed banner

Inside the Discover feed a soft banner sits among the cards:

Get dishes picked for you Sign in and Plaum learns your taste — recommendations get personal. [ Sign up free ]

When a guest session ends

Guest sessions are not permanent. When one expires you get:

Guest browsing has ended. Sign in to keep exploring.

Nothing is lost — a guest session doesn't store anything to lose.

If guest mode is switched off

Plaum can switch guest browsing off remotely. When it's off, the "Continue as guest" link disappears for the rest of the session. A temporary problem — a timeout or a dead network — doesn't remove the link, so you can simply try again.
